MacKENZIE’S PITCH. Former New Hampshire AFL-CIO president Mark MacKenzie, one of 11 Democratic candidates for the 1st District U.S. House seat, gives a forceful pitch in his first digital ad of the campaign.
MacKenzie, who is underfunded compared to Maura Sullivan and Chris Pappas, introduces himself as “a firefighter, a progressive union leader, a member of the New Hampshire House and a cancer survivor” in the more than two-minute video.
He talks about his challenging upbringing after his father died when he was 12 years old. He says that his son spent the first 13 years of his life in and out of hospital before receiving a life-saving liver transplant.
MacKenzie says his own bout with cancer has been successful because he was able to get “the very best care there was.”
